Key Features:

• Ames 2597400 drain spade with a 16" tempered steel blade
• Narrow blade profile intended for digging and cleaning out trenches and ditches
• Hardwood handle
• Ergonomic D-grip
• Comfort step formed at the blade shoulder

Benefits:

• The long narrow blade opens a tight trench without widening the cut, so there is less spoil to put back
• Tempered steel holds an edge in packed soil and root instead of rolling over
• A D-grip gives you a wrist-neutral pull for levering the blade out of a deep, narrow slot
• The step lets you drive the blade with body weight rather than arm strength
• Hardwood handles absorb shock and can be replaced, which suits a tool used against rock and root
