Shipping Information

Methods of Shipment

Thank you for shopping at The Shelving Store. We have partnered with UPS as our shipping provider. Despite the fact that your packages leave our warehouse at the same time, they may not all arrive at the same time. Please allow for several days for all packages to arrive before contacting us about missing products. If your order is too large for UPS ground then we will ship your order on a pallet via Freight (additional fees may apply) . In either event you will be sent a tracking number after your order has shipped. Our goal is to ship your order within 24 - 48 hours after payment has cleared. Our hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8:00am-7:00pm EST and Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. If you require additional shipping services please contact our Customer Support Team at 1-877-831-8885 or through our Order Inquiry Form. If you require changes to your shipping address after we have shipped your order additional shipping charges (address correction) will apply.

We will notify you via email when your order ships. The email will include a tracking number for your shipment and an estimated delivery date. Be sure to contact us if you have concerns regarding the progress of the shipment. We have two methods of shipment available: Small Parcel and Truck Freight.

Expected Delivery

See the UPS Shipping Time Map below for expected shipping dates to your area from our warehouse in Detroit, Michigan. Please allow up to 48 hours to process your order before shipping. Stocked items usually ship in 1-2 business days after being processed but exceptions do apply so please check product detail pages for specifics. If the items you ordered say "Online Exclusive" on the product detail page then we do not stock these items in our warehouse and delivery may take longer. Delivery to Canada may take longer. Please be aware that we only ship orders Monday through Friday.

Free Shipping

Any products marked as Free Shipping will ship for free to the contiguous 48 states.

Ground Shipping

In order to keep your cost down and our pricing simple, we ship via UPS or freight according to the weight and size of the products and the current ground rate schedule. This charge is calculated at checkout before you place your order. We won't surprise you with any hidden charges or handling fees. The price you see is the price you pay. We keep it simple—our pricing is straightforward and all-inclusive, which saves you time and energy.

LTL Freight Shipping

Ordering an item that ships LTL (Less-than-Truckload) means your shipment is too large for standard parcel carriers' semi-trailers (FedEx or UPS home delivery trucks). LTL freight is commonly used for heavy or bulky goods, industrial equipment, or oversized products weighing between 150 and 15,000 pounds.

Residential Delivery Requirements

If you are receiving an LTL shipment at home, it is very different from a standard package delivery.

  • Liftgate Service: Most freight trucks are designed to unload at high loading docks. For residential delivery, you must ensure the carrier uses a liftgate—a hydraulic platform that lowers the shipment from the truck to the ground.
  • No Dock or Forklift = Curbside Delivery: If you do not have a loading dock or forklift available, your delivery will be made curbside. The driver will typically only leave the shipment at the curb, driveway, garage, or dock door entrance.

Receiving the Item

  • Palletized Packing: Your order will most likely arrive on a wooden pallet, secured with shrink wrap and/or metal banding.
  • Mandatory Inspection: You must inspect the shipment for damage before signing the BOL (Bill of Lading). Once you sign, you are legally confirming the shipment arrived in good condition, making it much harder to file a freight damage claim later.

International Shipping

All international orders must be placed by phone or by email. Simply call our Customer Support Team at (877) 831-8885 or submit an inquiry using our Order Inquiry Form to place. It is important to note the variable costs involved in international shipping. This means that the goods you ordered have certain taxes added as soon as they cross your border and are not included in the cost of shipping. International charges will be applied and collected by courier at delivery. If the fees are then refused, the customer will be liable for the cost to return the goods.
