Positioning your hooks at the right height ensures your entryway remains organized and clutter-free for every family member. At The Shelving Store, we recommend tailoring installation measurements to the specific needs of your household and available wall space.

For primary adult entryways, mount a wall coat rack between 60 and 66 inches from the floor. This provides ample clearance for long trench coats and shoulder bags without dragging across mudroom benches or flooring. In children's cubbies or playrooms, lower the placement to 40–48 inches so kids can comfortably hang up their own backpacks and jackets independently.

When arranging multiple single hooks or integrating them into custom storage systems, space each hook 6 to 8 inches apart to prevent bulky garments from overlapping and crowding your wall.
