What's Under YOUR Bed?

Kind of an odd question, we know, but it’s good to ask - what do you usually store under your bed? Far removed from the days where mom would yell at you for just hiding all your toys and shoes under the bed (so you could get done cleaning and play outside faster, natch), people are finding the space under their bed to be an increasingly popular option for storage, especially in apartments or smaller bedrooms to make the most of the space they have. Do you have some space under your bed you’re not using to the fullest? Check out our list of items you could store under your bed and how to best store them!
  • Out of season clothing: Not bigger items like coats (since those are best off left in a closet, really), but for things like hoodies and sweaters, the underside of your bed is a great place to keep your winter gear in drawers, cardboard boxes, or clothing bags until the weather cools off and you need them again!
  • Shoes: Depending on your shoe collection you might need a little more space than usual for these, but if you have the room a small shoe rack would be the perfect accessory for underneath your bed to hang onto your shoe collection and keep everything out of the way!
  • Kid’s toys: These days a lot of kid-sized beds have built-in drawers and such, but if you’re not lucky enough to have those you can get some flat, low wire shelving and slide it under your kids’ beds to give them enough space to hang onto some bigger toys they don’t use all the time, like sports equipment or lightsabers, and keep them out of the way of their usual toys.
  • Art/office supplies: Do you have a lot of spare office supplies like notebooks or modems, or are you the artsy type with a lot of paints and sketchbooks everywhere? Some plastic storage bins under the bed are a perfect storage solution for your art of work supplies until the creative bug bites again!
  • An entire dresser: We know, but hear us out. There’s plenty of examples online of lining up a few short bedroom dressers to serve as kids’ beds to serve as both their bed and a good way to save space by organizing their clothes. It isn’t going to work for every kid or every bedroom, but if you’ve got the space, it might not be a bad way to go!
