Turn A Corner Of Your Garage Into A Sports Locker!

One of the worst parts of any hobby is figuring out where to keep everything. From collectibles to music instruments even all the way to arts & crafts, our hobbies sure can take up a lot of space. Among the biggest offenders in space-hogging leisure pursuits is sports and athletics. Whatever your physical activity of choice is, odds are good it comes with a lot of equipment that you have to keep somewhere. If you’re the kind to enjoy biking, golf, or anything that requires a lot of space to store the supplies and you’ve got a garage, here’s a few ways to maximize all the room you have available to keep everything safe and ready to go when you’re about to hit the court/ice/wherever you’re going! Let’s get them divided up by the sport and go from there: Golf: Golfing is pretty relaxing, but that’s only after you pack up your huge bag worth of clubs and stuff and drive all the way out there. To make it a little easier after you get back, hang up a few sports equipment racks or golf bag racks in an out of the way corner of the garage to keep your clubs together and easy to grab the next time you hit those links. Baseball: It’s America’s pastime, and a big part of the time being passed involves making sure everyone has enough bats, balls, gloves, helmets, and oversized shirts with numbers on them. For those first few items you can easily hang a baseball bat rack on some empty wall space. The XL jerseys can go in a home locker to really bring home the baseball diamond vibe, and if you’re worried about losing your lucky baseball you caught on a foul at a Tigers game you can get some plastic storage bins to hang onto the smaller stuff. Hockey: This one might be a little harder to get into in warmer states, but up here in Michigan (and surrounding states) the water’s usually solid enough to make hockey games a pretty common sight. Before you hit the ice, set up a skate rack to keep your skates (and custom-painted goalie mask) safely up off the floor, and and if you’ve got the room you might want to consider an entryway bench to sit on and lace up your skates (when you can). Skiing/Snowboarding/Skateboarding: They’re all pretty different sports, but on the plus side you can use the same sort of organization for each one! You can either get a snowboard rack to hang onto everything, or if you’re feeling craft you might be able to support your smaller boards (of the skate variety, generally) with a 2x4 and some mounted wall hooks - just make sure to weigh and measure everything first! Kayaks: Here’s the big one: that thing is always a bear to put away, but you can’t just leave it strapped to the top of your SUV, right? (Right.) The best bet for these is to clear out some space way up high, maybe near that lumber rack you never use (is that what those weird overhangs are for?) and set up a kayak storage rack to keep it high and dry and, best of all, out of the way of everything else. After these tips you should be all set and ready to go hit the field or rink or wherever your favorite sport is played, and better yet it’ll be so much easier to put everything away when you get back! Trust us, you’ll be glad you did it.
