Summer has been in full swing, and with the record heat some areas of the country have been getting (even here in Michigan!) the odds are pretty good that if you own a pool it’s gotten plenty of use this year already. Of course, having any kind of pool - in-ground, above-ground, whichever - means you’re going to have a lot of supplies and accessories you’re going to have to keep organized. If you need a little help keeping your pool stuff together and out of the way while you’re out relaxing in or near the water, we’ve got some tips here:
Get A Towel Cart: The first thing anyone is going to need for a day in the pool (okay, other than a swimsuit) is a towel to dry off when they’re done. Problem is, it’s hard to keep towels dry if you don’t have anywhere to set them, and if your towel gets wet that kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it? Get yourself a wire shelving utility cart to keep your towels dry and close at hand - and you can roll it away when you’re done!
...And A Towel Hamper: Of course, used towels are going to need to be washed pretty quickly to get all of the chemicals and pool water out of them, and you might want a better way to transport them back over to the washer. You can easily repurpose clothes hampers to carry used towels back to the washer and keep them out of the way while you’re still enjoying the pool.
Bring Out A Toy Box: Even the adults have pool toys they use: inflatable rafts, those coolers that float on top of the water, maybe the occasional water balloon. Whether you’re keeping toys around for the kids or for yourself, you’ll want somewhere to keep them out of the way (and dry) when you’re not using them. Plastic storage bins are the best way to keep your toys organized and out of the way - don’t want anyone tripping over them!
Store All Your Pool Supplies: Of course, owning a pool is a lot of work - there’s pool skimmers to catch leaves and twigs, there’s cleaning supplies to keep the water safe, and so on. You’re going to need somewhere to keep these, and special care has to be taken depending on what you’re storing. Wire shelving is a safe way to store chemicals away from anything they shouldn’t be mixed with (just make sure to properly read all the safety labels!) and you can repurpose a lot of garage storage or even sports equipment racks to keep things like pool skimmers and mops handy to clean up when you’re done using it. Or maybe the next day, whenever you feel up to it!
Hopefully with these tips, your pool area will remain clean, mess-free...and fun! At least until it gets too cold to use it!
