We all have our own unique challenges when cleaning our homes. Maybe you’ve got a smaller living room than most, or maybe you don’t have a basement or attic to store extra items No matter what the layout of your house or the amount of room you have to work with, there’s a few rooms in any house that seem to always need a ton of help. Here’s some of the most common issues we’ve run into, and how to best handle them.
Kid’s Bedroom/Playroom
We know exactly what you’re thinking right now - you love your kids more than anything in the world, but you’re pretty tired of stepping over a huge pile of toys whenever you have to go into your kid’s bedroom or playroom. A good way to help keep your kids’ rooms organized is to let them feel like they’re helping and encourage them to be part of the cleaning process. Let them pick out some kid’s lockers to keep their clothes in, and buy some colored storage bins to better organize the toys. And make sure to keep them part of the process - if you let them decide what bin holds what toy, they’ll be more likely to stick with the system and keep everything clean!
Kitchen
No matter if you fancy yourself an amateur chef or just a microwave expert, the kitchen can really get away from you, organization-wise, if you’re not careful. Ingredients can pile up, bowls and pans can get everywhere, and it seems like there’s never a Tupperware container handy when you need one. Luckily, if you’re willing to put a little time into it, the kitchen is more manageable than you might imagine. Bakers racks are the perfect solution for anyone with a lot of pots, pans, and mixing bowls to contend with, and kitchen islands are the perfect way to open up some extra counter and cooking space for anyone feeling a little cramped. And if you find yourself with a ton of wine bottles for cooking or...personal use (hey, it’s fine by us!), wine racks allow you to keep them safely up out of the way to free up some space.
Basements and Attics
The biggest problem with basements and attics is that they usually wind up being a haven for all your stuff that won’t fit everywhere else. Disused exercise equipment, holiday decorations, clothes that don’t fit, boxes of magazines from the late 90s...there’s plenty of things in your attic and basement that just don’t have a home anywhere else. Luckily, that doesn’t mean these rooms can’t get tidied up a little. Chrome wire shelving is an ideal solution for these rooms - the open design means they’ll fit in a lot of different areas no matter how cramped it is, and they can hold a ton of weight so now you have a home for all those boxes of magazines, photo albums nobody has looked at in forever, and bags of baby clothes you haven’t quite been able to get rid of yet.
Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, but hopefully these are enough to get you started on! Good luck, and just remember - no project is truly too big!
