Surprising Small Home Office Ideas

One of the most frequent discussions that tends to take place around opening a home office is whether or not you have the room. Most people are, understandably enough, under the impression that turning part of your home into an office requires a lot of space and room. But that isn’t always the case! In fact, there’s a lot of ways you can very easily add a home office to an already-existing room without having to do a lot of rearranging or putting anything out of place! If you’re looking for the perfect solution to your home office size issues, here’s a few ideas that just might spark your inspiration: A Corner of the Bedroom One of the easiest places to set up a home office is your current bedroom. You’re in there often enough, and unless you’ve already gone a little furniture-crazy you could very easily free up space in an extra corner of your bedroom. Unless your business needs you to hang onto a ton of documents, you can absolutely get by with tucking a small home office desk into an unused corner of the bedroom with enough space for a notebook and a laptop - everything you need to get by! What About The Kitchen? A lot of more modern homes have a pretty spacious kitchen that tends to blend in with some of the other rooms in your house such as the entryway or dining room. As much as you might not want to get distracted by the delicious smell of homecooked meals, repurposing some kitchen storage can actually prove helpful for clearing out space for a home office. If you’ve got the space to keep a chair, a kitchen island or baker’s rack can very easily become a new home for your computer and all the paperwork you need to get by. (Just try not to spill anything!) Cleaning Out Your Closet Particularly good for smaller homes or apartments, if you have a closet that doesn’t get much use you could quickly convert that into a home office, one with the added benefit of being able to be tucked away! You can either put a desk in there or mount some decorative shelving or wire shelving directly to the wall to give yourself a place to work without taking up valuable floor space elsewhere in the house. Other Out Of The Way Places But why stop at the closet? Any small enclosure such as a bedroom nook, an enclave under a staircase, or disused lofts can provide the perfect space for your home office, no matter what you need it for. But you don’t just have to take our word for it - why not take a look around your home and see where a home office would fit best?
