Shelving and Displaying Collectibles

We all collect something, right? Maybe it’s toys from your childhood, maybe it’s records of your favorite band, maybe it’s silverware, anything! Everyone has their collecting habits, but too often do people start to consider their collections as ‘silly clutter’ and box them up, never to see the light of day. If you’ve put all that work into tracking down a complete set of Beatles records, why not have them out where everyone can see them (and be jealous)? We’ve got some tips on how to display your collections in a fun way without taking up a ton of space - or breaking the bank! Find A Shelf That Complements Their Shape If your collection doesn’t take up a lot of space but maybe comes in a variety of sizes and shapes, such as dolls, figurines, or Star Wars toys (hey, nobody’s judging!) you’ll want to get some specialty shelving to fit your needs. Corner shelving can provide both a convenient method to store more...irregularly-shaped collectibles, as well as keeping them up and out of the way so you never have to move them to make room on the coffee table! Repurpose Other Storage Types Storage Cube For Records Pardon the pun, but when comes time to stash your collectibles it sometimes pays to think outside of the box...or crate...or whatever you have! Wine crates, storage cubes, or even milk crates can be the perfect diameter to stash your favorite vinyl records in a place where they’re easily accessible to play them or simply show them off to your friends/fellow collectors. If you’re the kind to keep boxes with everything, bookcases and bookshelves are a great size for displaying old movies, video games, or even comic books! Prioritize Your Collection Okay, so even after arranging and reorganizing everything, you might find yourself with a few more treasures than you have the room to display. It might break your heart to have to put a few of your Superman statues away, but a big part of displaying collectibles is picking which ones to prioritize and keep on display. One bigger and ‘showier’ item might be worth two smaller ones...unless those smaller ones have more bragging rights to them. Just keep in mind that you might not have space for all of your favored finds. Follow these tips and you should have a much nicer and more presentable display for your favorite collectibles! Who knows - maybe it’ll even get your loved ones to stop asking why you spend so much money on them! (That is...if you tell them how much money you’ve spent!)
