With Halloween almost upon us, we’re about to enter the season of frequent house guests. Between Halloween parties, the Thanksgiving feast, and whatever your major winter holiday is, you’re probably going to be extremely busy, and about to have a lot of people stopping by your house! If you don't have time to go all out cleaning and organizing every nook and cranny, follow these easy steps to make your place look good for both you and your family.
Organize The Entryway
Other than maybe the driveway or the porch, what’s the first part of your house most people are going to see when they come over? The entryway! Whether they’re staying for the Thanksgiving weekend or are just coming by for a Halloween party that night, try to keep your entryway tidy to make a good first impression. If you need to gather up the usual entryway clutter (shoes, keys, and the like), some entryway furniture might be just what you need to keep it clean and presentable - and your guests will have somewhere to keep their shoes when they arrive!
Tidy Up A Little
We’re not saying your home is gross by any means, but there could always be a little extra cleaning done to make sure your home is looking and smelling good. Do a quick wipe down of any kitchen or bathroom counters, clean up any animal mess that might be around, and maybe keep a few festively-scented candles around to keep everything smelling great!
Keep Everything Well Stocked
Again, this one will sort of depend on what sort of guests you’re having and the holiday you’re preparing for, but it’s always a good idea to come prepared. If you’re having short-term Halloween guests, make sure there’s plenty of snacks and beverages for everyone’s taste - and, of course, candy too (just be careful of your friend with the peanut allergies!). Visitors coming by for a longer stay like over Thanksgiving weekend or for the holidays will need the usual array of goods and toiletries, so you’ll want to run out and buy some extra soaps and shampoos, and make sure there’s plenty of blankets and towels available. Making sure you have a few closet organizers set up so everyone has a place for their clothes and stuff will help with a lot of hassle when they arrive, too!
These tips should be applicable for any size house, no matter what the holiday, or who is coming over!
