Prepare Your Home For Game Day Guests

For a certain segment of us out there, fall brings with it one very important development - the return of most sports to TV! Whether you’re a hockey fan (go Wings!), a basketball lover (go Pistons!), or a football fanatic (...well…), odds are you’re going to be getting friends and family together to watch whatever your sport of choice is. But what does that mean for your house? Even if you’ve got your living room just the way you want it, there’s always some extra preparations you can do to make sure you and your friends have the best viewing experience possible. Make Sure Everyone Can See The TV! The most fun sports party in the world isn’t going to be much good if nobody can watch the game! This might be kind of a hassle depending on the size and layout of your living room, but you’re going to want to make sure everything is arranged just right so the view of the TV is unobstructed. Move tables out of the way, make sure all the chairs and couches are pointing in the right direction, and if you need a little extra height or storage you might want to consider looking into some TV stands to keep your TV visible and your movies and remotes kept together and out of the way! Plenty Of Space For Snacks And Drinks The more people you have over, the more room you’re going to need, right? Whether you’re furnishing the refreshments or it’s a BYOB affair, make sure you provide enough coffee tables and end tables so everyone has a place to set their snacks and beverages. Extra bowls and plates never hurt, and if you’re the kind to prefer coasters, make sure you have enough to go around! Stick With Your Team’s Colors Whatever your sport and team of choice, try to decorate accordingly. Set out plates and table settings matching the colors of your team, fly any kind of logo flag you might have, whatever you have. Just be careful to not remind anyone of the opposing team - nobody needs to see a penguin sitting around during a Red Wings game, right? A Little Extra Storage for Everyone Sadly, since most sports happen in fall, there’s always the issue of people wearing coats and heavier boots over their clothes - and they have to go somewhere! Keeping some extra coat hooks and shoe racks in the entryway will provide everyone with a good place to keep their outerwear while they enjoy the game inside. We can’t guarantee your team is going to win - but we can try to help make sure your parties are fun!
