Organizing Your Nightly Routine

We’ve talked a lot about how getting organized can help you get out the door in the morning - but what about right before bed? We all have our nightly routines to get ready and wind down before bed, and if something throws off your routine you might find yourself unable to sleep until everything is back to normal. The best way to keep your nightly routine together is to get it all organized before bed, and keep it where it belongs! Not only will this help you get ready for bed faster, but it can also help you get dressed and out the door the next day too! Tidy Up A Little: While doing chores doesn’t sound that great after everything you’ve done that day, doing a quick go-over of a few trouble spots can help reduce stress the next day and prevent problems from building up. Load up the dishwasher, wipe down the dinner table, get some bins to keep your kids’ toys together, and toss all your dirty clothes into the hamper to wash later on. Keep Your Shower/Bath Stuff Together: After a long day doing whatever it is you do - taking care of the kids, working, maybe both, whatever - you might want to take a nice long bath or shower. Of course, these baths aren’t going to be that great without your bath bombs, soap, and the like. Get some bathroom shelving and caddies to keep everything right where you need it to save time and reduce the stress of looking for everything before bathtime! Get Ready For Tomorrow: A great way to go to bed more relaxed and make sure your morning is less stressful is to get ready for the next morning! Take your kitchen wire shelving or pantry organizers and clear out some space for next morning’s breakfast (and pre-packed lunches), free up some room in your closet shelving to get tomorrow’s outfit together, and make sure everyone has enough towels for morning showers! Set Up Your Bed: Everyone should have a few things they do at the very end of the night before bed to wind down and get your mind ready for sleep. Wash your face, brush your teeth, watch an episode of something you like, whatever you have to do in order to get calmed down and ready for sleep. Don’t Stress: Finally, the important thing to remember is not to stress out. Turning this into a nightly ordeal is going to just make it harder in the long run, and any extra stress is going to keep you up - which is the exact opposite of what we’re trying to do. If your process takes longer than 20-30 minutes, you’re just overthinking it. Sweet dreams, and if you need any help getting ready in the morning, we’ve got you covered there too!
