If your kids are the athletic type, you’ve probably already found yourself driving to and from practice plenty this summer. There’s baseball practice to get to, there’s street hockey games to set up, there’s swimming meets to be there for, so on and so forth.
Of course, since it isn’t the school year, you’ve probably found yourself with a pretty specific problem: you have to find somewhere to keep all that equipment! You don’t get to just leave your baseball bats at school anymore, and that stuff can take up a lot of room after a while. If you need some help getting these items all organized and tucked away, we’ve got some tips to keep your house free of sports clutter!
Balls, Pucks, Etc: Whatever sport your kids play, the odds are there’s some kind of ball or puck or little whatsit they have to chase around and pass. And even if these items aren’t particularly big, they’re always a constant tripping hazard (not that we’re speaking from experience)! Larger ones like footballs or basketballs can be kept safely on the wall using ball claws to hold them up out of the way, and create a neat display piece! Smaller ones like hockey pucks can be stashed away in plastic storage bins and kept up on a shelf for easy access.
Larger Equipment: Of course, pucks and balls are the easy part - now you’re probably wondering where to keep the bigger stuff like baseball bats and tennis rackets! Hockey sticks, golf clubs, lacrosse sticks (yes, people still play that) and so on can be kept in the garage on sports storage racks that are perfectly shaped for larger, more inconvenient items like this.
Safety Gear: Depending on the sport your kids play, they probably have a lot of big clunky pads and safety equipment to avoid injury. And while you’re glad your kids can be safe out on the field, this stuff tends to pile up after a while. Get some wire shelving and keep your kids’ shinguards, elbow pads, and anything else up and out of the way where they can still get to it.
Uniforms & Special Clothing: Swimsuits, jerseys, lucky cleats and shoes - if your kid plays on a team, they’ve probably got specific clothing they need to wear and bring with them. You can get kids lockers to help keep their uniforms together and help them feel like they’re one of the professionals with their own locker to keep everything in! (These also make it much easier to find everything when it’s time to do the laundry!)
We might not be able to help your kids score the winning goal, but we can definitely help keep your house organized after the big game!
