Gardening can bring with it a lot of joy and relaxation for anyone with the time, space, and inclination. But, like most hobbies, there’s an awful lot of tools, supplies, and stuff that you need to garden successfully - and it all has to go somewhere, right?
You’re probably a few months into the gardening season, and you’re probably struggling with shears, shovels, and bags of dirt all over the place. Never fear - The Shelving Store is here to help get your garden supplies tidied!
Use Your Walls: The biggest problem you’ve probably run into with garden supplies is just how big and clunky they can be. Weed whips, trimming shears, shovels and trowels...there’s a lot of long, cumbersome equipment that your garden requires and it’s hard to figure out where to put it all. If you have any empty wall space in your garage or shed, grab some garage wall racks to hang these larger items up and keep them out of the way.
Divide Everything Else Up: Once you’ve gotten the bigger tools safely hung on the walls, the next step is to figure out what you’re working with. Gardening requires more than just tools - there’s plant food, dirt, bug repellent, and any number of growth supplies you might need. A lot of these products are better off not sitting too close to one another - before you get to organizing your favorite potting dirt, take a good look at your remaining supplies to know what can sit where and where you need to keep everything.
Look Up: Vertical space is always helpful to keep in mind, and this goes double once you’ve gotten your garden supplies divided up. Get some tall, rust-proof chrome wire shelving to hang onto your dirtier supplies like planting supplies (since it can stand up to the abuse better), and everything else (mostly the lighter supplies) can go on the higher shelves to keep them out of the way.
Bring It With You: Here’s the step a lot of people skip! Sure, you have your garden tools all tidied up in the garage the next time you need them...but what do you do then? If you want to make sure your hard work doesn’t go to waste, there’s a few ways to keep your tools organized even while you’re actually out working in the dirt. Kitchen islands can be repurposed as rolling outdoor carts to keep your hand tools, well...right at hand. If you’re feeling industrious (and have a sturdy enough fence) you could also get (or build!) a small rack to hang on your fence to make sure everything is close at hand.
Once you’ve gotten everything together, the next step is just to get out there and garden! Don’t be afraid to get messy, and make sure you have fun and make it look how you want - otherwise, what’s the point?
