Must-Have Tools for Organizing Your Dorm Room

Heading off to college is a very exciting time in life. You’re finished with high school and you’re about to start learning everything you need to know to start a great career. But for many people, college means living in a dorm room. Even if you’re lucky and don’t have to share your dorm room with a roommate, you’re probably still not going to have a whole lot of space to work with. Finding ways to utilize any space you have available is essential to keeping a dorm room organized. If you want to keep your dorm room nice and organized, here are a few great tools to help you out: Bed Risers and Under-the-Bed Storage Bins Utilizing the space under a bed is one of the most popular ways for people to store things in a dorm room. No list of essential dorm room storage tools would be complete without bed risers to give you some extra space to work with under your bed. You can also get flat storage bins that are designed for under-the-bed storage. Perfect if you're running out of shared closet space. Refrigerator and Microwave Carts If you need extra storage for food and utensils, consider placing your fridge and microwave on a wire shelving cart. Choose from a pre-assembled kit or build your own with the correct dimensions to fit your fridge and/or microwave. Add as many shelves as you'd like for lots of extra storage. This is a great idea if you have a roommate that likes to "forget" which food is theirs! Above the Bed or Desk Shelving Above The Bed Dorm Storage The biggest problem with dorm rooms (or apartments) is your inability to add anything to the walls that would require a nail or screw. But, while wall-mounted shelving would work perfect to show off some photos and knick knacks, it doesn't help much for holding larger storage items like bins and totes. This is where a tall wire shelving unit with two or three shelves will really shine.
