So by now summer is in full swing and you’ve probably found yourself in the midst of a ton of summertime activities with the family - picnics, barbecues, vacations, and the like. And just like any other big family activity, a lot of these are gonna require a lot of preparing and packing - which can lead to a ton of clutter!
If your family finds itself constantly scrambling for swimsuits, baseball bats, and picnic supplies, here’s a few tips to keep your summer stuff organized!
- Organizing a summer list is a great way to keep track of everything you want to do, and everything you’ve done so far. Write down everything you still want to do before the summer’s over - trips to the waterpark, outdoor concerts, etc - and you’ll always know what you want to do and when you can do it!
- Still got a camping trip this summer? Plan ahead and save some time by grabbing all your camping gear and putting them into carefully-labeled plastic storage bins for easy access when it’s time to hit the open road. Set up some garage shelving to keep these bins out of the way and ready to go when you need them!
- Got a pool in your backyard? Or maybe you take a lot of trips to the city pool downtown? Wherever you go to cool off, pool trips mean one thing - a lot of swimsuits to keep track of. Designate a clothes hamper specifically for swimsuits and towels to make sure they get washed away from the normal laundry (and not stink up the house with pool chemicals)!
- Barbecues are always fun, but they do take a lot of planning and supplies to do it right. If you find yourself always reaching for the hot sauce and a good pair of tongs, consider keeping some wire shelving carts or a mobile kitchen island out by the grill to keep everything right close by when you need it!
- Take some plastic bags or plastic food containers and assemble some ready-to-go activity bags for impromptu trips to the park, amusement parks, or wherever you spend your weekends. Keep snacks, bug repellant, goggles and swim caps, and travel games in these containers so when your kids decide it’s playtime, you’ve got everything you need to go!
- Even if they’re not on a team, your kids might want to get outside and play some sports before the summer ends. Get some team lockers and sports equipment storage to hold onto your kids’ uniforms, bats, pucks, or anything else they need to get out and play.
