Maybe you prefer it instead of doing your hair all the time, maybe you use it to put off getting a haircut, maybe you just got used to not having to look as nice at work all the time during those days of constant Zoom meetings. Whatever the reason, people seem to be wearing a lot of hats these days in a lot of situations. And that’s great! Hats can be either a fun accessory to finish off an outfit, a great way to hide the fact you haven’t washed your hair in a second, or both as circumstances dictate. But if there’s one thing that can be a bummer about hats, it’s that they’re so hard to organize! Finding the right home for your growing hat collection can be a challenge at the best of times, especially if you’re already a little pressed for closet space. So what’s a hat fashionista like yourself to do? We’ve got a few ideas right here:

Hat Storage & Organization Ideas

Hat storage can take many forms and shapes, depending on what exactly you want to store, and how much of it there is. The first step is to try and find a room you can safely keep them all in. Most people focus on the bedroom closet, and while that can be handy, it can also be hard to work with given everything else stored in your bedroom. What about looking elsewhere? A lot of people find success by turning to their entryway. It’s a pretty clever idea when you think about it - not only will it free up storage space elsewhere, it might also make it a little easier for you to grab one on your way out the door. All you need to do is find some empty space in your entryway, preferably on a wall, and then set up some entryway storage to help hold your hats. For example, a lot of people tend to turn to repurposed coat hooks to hang their favorite hats right by the door to grab in a hurry. You could also turn to directly mounting wall hooks by the front door, or even inside your closet for a similar effect. Mounting hooks can be a good solution in other rooms of the house, too. A lot of people with closet space to spare, such as in the bedroom, hallway, or entryway, use closet hanging rods to hang their hats from using smaller hooks or clips. This can prevent them from getting damaged or folded, while still keeping them accessible! Finally, if most of your collection consists of baseball caps, a fun way to store them is to use a drawer! Take an empty drawer in your bedroom dresser, line up your hats (with the backs folded in, like you’d see at the store), and you’ve got a much faster way to find them in the morning!
