DIY Projects You Can Do Over A Weekend

You know what everybody has a ton of? Spare time for projects! ...alright, you got us, that was sarcasm. Between work, family, and everything else that can come up during your day, who has time to actually sit down and get anything done? If you want to get some things done around your house but you don’t have enough time to devote to a massive overhaul, we’ve put together this list of quick and easy projects you can get done over a weekend! Get Painting: If you’ve been a homeowner for any real amount of time, odds are you’ve got something that needs to be painted, and unless it’s something like “the whole outside of your house” this is something you can get done in a day or two! Paint can also be used to freshen up more than just the walls: if you have some doors or cabinets you don’t want to replace yet, a fresh coat of paint can liven up the kitchen or the upstairs in a much more economic fashion. Replace Some Hardware: Got a squeaky doorknob that just won’t turn anymore? Are a few of your drawers missing handles? Is that rusty hinge becoming too much to deal with? Replace it! Make sure to get all your measurements done beforehand to make sure your new hardware fits properly, and get prepared to drill new holes in your doors if need be. Trust us, once those drawers open properly, you’ll be glad you did! Clean Out Your Closet: It has to happen every once in awhile, and you’ll be glad when you do it. Toss out things you won’t wear anymore, put away the seasonal items you don’t need, and get some closet storage to better organize whatever you wind up keeping. Reorganize The Kitchen: You probably dreaded it just reading this tip, but it’s a good step to take every once in awhile. Get some wire shelving or some kitchen organization supplies like baker’s racks or kitchen islands to make the job easier, and then go about the task of purging your old canned goods and baking supplies, while filing the rest away to make them easier to find. Work On Your Curb Appeal: Even if you’re not planning on moving anytime soon, a nice-looking facade for your home can do a lot to maintain your home’s value - and it’s easier on the eyes! Freshen up the paint on your doors and doorways, replace your old mailbox, and if you’re feeling adventurous you can even replace the address numbers! With this list, you’ll never feel unproductive on the weekends again! (Because, of course, you had so few things filling up your time already, right?)
