A Disappointment

Good idea but too long.  We didn't use these because they would have placed the unit too far from the wall, allowing items to fall behind the shelf unit and wasting floor space.

Excellent for other uses as well

I didn't get these to stabilize the shelves by attaching them to the wall.  I got these so I could toss a 2x4 or a piece of wood on them and attach things I'd usually attach to the wall to the desk I made out of a shelf unit.  I have a wall-mount monitor arm with a 21" monitor attached to two of these brackets on a single pole with a 2x4 connecting them.  It's holding great and works very well.  T

Just understand what you're getting

These are arguably unnecessary, but if you are going to be pulling on the shelving unit, or live with someone tempted to climb on them, a good idea. I wasn't troubled by the distance to the wall factored in to the design (see other reviews). We have base molding, and in the space, and it wouldn't have worked otherwise.

Do they ONLY fit on the TOP of a post???

I have had one of these shelf units in my kitchen for 20 years and now I would like to make it larger.  I am concerned about stability.  This post wall bracket seems to be a good idea.  The picture shows it attached at the very top of the post.  There are no further instructions.  My question is; does this wall bracket need to be attached ONLY at the top of the post or can it be placed anywhere on
